The Frog In The Well 井底之蛙

There was once a frog who made his home in a shallow well.One day he met a turtle from the East Sea."I'm extremely happy!"the frog told the turtle."When on the ground,I would leap up and down the railing of the well.When I'm tired,I would rest on the broken bricks."Back in the water,I would swim with only my head above the surface.When I walk in themud.They can't be as happy as I am.""The pool of water belongs to me because the well is mine.This is the greatest pleasure!"the frog said proudly."You should come visit me some time!"The turtle went with the frog to the shallow well.Lifting his right foot,he tried to enter the well.But it got stuck even before he could extend his left one,so he leisurely retreated.Rather amused,the turtle said,"I can't tell you how vast the East Sea is,for it is beyond measure.However,flood doesn't increase its depth the least bit,and drought can't made it lose an inch.Its depth does not change with time,nor does it change with the amount of rainfall.This is its greatest pleasure!"On hearing the turtle,the frog was dumbfounded.


從前,有一隻青蛙，再淺井裏居住。一天，他遇見一隻從東海來的大鯊。井蛙對大鯊說:「我真是樂透了!高興時，便在井欄上跳躍。疲倦時，就躺在破磚上休息。回到水裏，我只是露出我的頭游泳。回到泥裏，我則埋沒我的雙腿。我回頭看看井裏的赤蟲、蟹和蝌蚪。牠們可不及我快樂呢!井水是我，因為這口井屬於我，這就是最大的喜樂啊!你有控不妨來探望我。」大鱉聽了，就跟著井蛙入景哩，怎知左腳還未伸進去，右腳已經辦住了，於是便從容的退了出來。大鯊給逗樂了,便對青蛙說：「東海的大,我無法給你描,因為那是無法測量的。水災既不能增加它的深度,旱災也不能減少它一吋。它的深度,是不會因時間的長短,或雨量的多少而有所改變。這就是東海最大的喜樂啊!」井蛙聽了,驚訝的呆一邊。

You'd Never Know 人不可貌相

In the State of Zhao , there was once of a scholar by the name of Gongsun Long. He was a vian man and thought highly of himself."I don't keep company with people who have no talents,"he told his disciples.One day a man dressed in rags came up to him saying,"Pleas take me as your disciple."After looking the man up down, Gongsun Long replied coldly,"Tell me about your talents.""Well,"said the man, "I have a loud voice which can travel very far.""Is there anyone among you who has a loud voice?" Gongsun Long asked his disciples."No, sir!" they replied.Gongsun Long took the man as his disciple. His other disciples were secretly laughing among themselves. "What is the use of a loud voice?" they sneered.A few days later, Gongsun Long and his disciples had to make a trip to the State of Yan.They came upon a large river. However, not a boat was in sight except one lying on the distant shore.Gongsun Long told his new disciple to prove his talent. The man gladly heeded the request and bellowed across the river. Very soon the boat was rowed over to ferry them all.


趙國有個學者明公孫龍，為人驕傲自負。他曾對弟子說：「我不會和沒有本領的人交往。」一天，有個衣衫襤褸的人，走上前對他說：「請您收我作徒弟吧!」公孫龍打量了那個人一番，冷冷的問到：「你有何本領？」那人回答說：「我有一把洪亮的聲音。」公孫龍問弟子道：「你們當中有沒有聲音洪亮的？」弟子回答說：「沒有。」於是公孫龍收那人作徒弟。其它弟子竊竊私語，還暗暗的嘲笑道：「宏亮有甚麼用還暗暗的嘲笑道：「宏亮有甚麼用?」過了幾天，公孫龍有事要到燕國去。他們來到一條大河前，可是卻見不到岸邊有渡船，只見一艘停泊在遠遠的對岸。公孫龍著令新弟子施展其技。新弟子欣然答允，便大喊一聲。不久，那艘渡船就划過來，載他們渡河去。
